The following youth volunteers at SVBF have been working hard every day and providing valuable service for our Youth Team.
Sahana Madhyastha is one of the most dedicated youth volunteers at SVBF. She has been helping for over 5 years and her commitment was recognized by the Government of Ontario with a Youth Volunteer Award. She can be seen helping in all areas—cleaning of the temple, helping with programs, doing outdoor gardening and cleaning work etc. She has been a regular bhajan student for over 10 years. She is truly an outstanding volunteer. Sahana is a grade 10 student. She enjoys reading, baking, volleyball and helping others when she can. She also enjoys volunteering and going to SVBF.
Kaavya Hegde is a grade 9 student who values our Hindu culture and heritage. Some of her hobbies include Taekwondo, Dance, Piano, Mathematics, Swimming, and Art. Kaavya has been going to SVBF since the age of 3 and attending Bhajan classes, Hanuman Chalisa regularly. She has been actively involved in many cultural activities held at SVBF as well as actively participating in raising funds for breast cancer research. Kaavya is excited to be part of the SVBF-Youth Web Team, as the spirit of service is the heart of humanity. While volunteering, she would like to explore her interests and strengthen her volunteering skills.
Tanay Hegde is a 13-year-old boy who resides in Mississauga, Ontario. He has a strong passion for gaining knowledge. He likes to gain knowledge by reading different resources (encyclopedias, articles), writing (essay writing and paragraph structure) and watching media (learning interpersonal skills from movies as well as being updated by the news. He is involved in a variety of extracurricular activities and contests (Spelling Bee Contests, International Math Contests and tennis). He plays and participates in Tennis tournaments all around Ontario. He also participates in various contests like Canadian National Math League and Mathematica Centrum. He is very close to the SVBF with many friends in the community. He has participated in a number of performances for Havyaka Sangha. In addition to that, he has many close friends in the SVBF community. Some of his strong passions are reading, writing, playing tennis, researching, reading Greek Mythology, coding and learning about politics.
Aditya Pai is a grade 8 student who attends J.B. Tyrrell SPS. He enjoys drawing, gaming, playing the piano, and creating robotic contraptions with LEGO EV3 (Technic + Motors) as hobbies. His favourite subjects are English and science and technology. Aditya loves dogs and has a pet Goldendoodle named Bubbles. The literatures he prefers are non-fiction and mystery books. Aditya loves helping people in the community, and since he enjoys working with technology, he helped out in OKA’s (Ontario Konkani Association) Senior Tech Workshop.
Arjun Saraff is a grade 8 student who resides in Milton, Ontario. A few of his hobbies include soccer, piano, reading, writing, mathematics, robotics, coding, and drawing. Arjun has been attending bhajan classes at SVBF since the age of 3 and has been actively involved in many cultural events held there. He wants to volunteer for SVBF as it gives him an opportunity to give back to the community, stay connected with the culture, and grow as a leader.
Aishwarya Nandakumar is a 16-year-old girl who recently joined the SVBF Youth Web Team. She has been part of the SVBF community for 5 years now and has previously made small contributions by occasionally volunteering in the temple as a child.
In her free time, Aishwarya practices Bharatnatyam, an art form she is enthusiastic about which has helped her learn about our Hindu cultures and traditions over the years. Aishwarya loves studying history, reading about different cultures, and getting active on the court with her passion for Badminton. She looks forward to connecting with our readers and growing alongside our Youth Team.
Varsha Prasad is a grade 10 student who goes to the IB program at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School. She is interested in NeuroTech and making an impact on others. Varsha also likes to play soccer, dance, sing and listen to music. She has been going to SVBF for 12 years now and loves that she has the opportunity to give back to the community.
